Cabelas Hawken Lock

Dear Abby,
I have a Cabelas Hawken flint lock and it is weak.  It is the coil spring type and I have owned and shot it for twenty or so years, abused, cared for, forgotten, and remembered.  What can I do to get that spark back with my old friend and I?

Why not just replace the mainspring?  My son now has my dad's old 1911 .45 that dad carried in the Pacific in the big war, and we have had to replace coil springs in it several times over the years.  Having done that, it still works as intended.

Thanks mole eyes, I am looking that up.  I thought about replacing the spring but there is a ton of play in the lock.  I will probably study this a little longer.  In a way I hate to replace my first flint lock, but I am really spoiled by the action of guns I have built using a chambers lock.  It is night and day, although I hunted successfully very early on with this hawken.  Thanks for the replies.

I put a L&R replacement lock on a Lyman flintlock a few years back very little in letting required and it made a world of difference in performance
