Half Stock Fowler...

This is one of Wayne Dunlap's component sets I've had sitting around the shop for a few years and just recently completed.  I did the pattern for Wayne that's used for this fowler, which is taken from an original he owns.

My one suggestion is that you keep up with these fine builds we all enjoy seeing.
Seeing this type of work makes me wish I had concentrated on wood working skills
more but I didn't so I will be content looking at this type of work from you and others.

Yes, early Ketland, the kit is inlet for it. I had it down to the year at one time, it's later than you think, If I recall, it's 1780's. (1788? I'll have to check my books  to make sure) The style of the roller on the lock on the original is the identifier.

I would've guessed 1770s-1780s.
I saw Ed used the Queen Anne lock on his version. I wonder how much earlier that would make his.

Here's the original lock. It's the double rollers  that dates it to nearly a specific year, I'll look that up today when I locate the book out in my shop. The checkering Is a 1780's style as well. It's a 5 bore if I recall.

5hat looKS to be an earlier gun that was re-stocked in the 1790s or later.
