R. Sterling gunsmith Newburgh?

I have a half stock silver mounted target rifle signed R Sterling Newburgh on the barrel and one of the silver inlays. Does anyone have any info on this gunmaker? Possibly Newburgh, NY?

Found a reference to an H G Sterling, "unlocated" maybe some pictures would help there is a tremendous amount of collective knowledge on this forum . Good luck
