Longrifle for sale
« on: January 08, 2020, 03:35:06 PM »
I have a longrifle that I'd like to sell. It is a shorter version of a Lancaster or Beck style I think. It has German Silver furniture. It has beautiful curly maple figure. It has straight octagon barrels. Both barrels have been drilled and tapped for a peep sight in the rear tang. This gun originally had a 40 inch barrel and I shortened it to 36 inch because I had a 36 inch 40 caliber barrel I wanted to add to it. The gun now has a 50 caliber and a 40 caliber barrel for it. Both barrels are in fine shape and both shoot really well. I think this gun was built from a blank not a kit and workmanship is fair. Most of the carvings are ok and could be cleaned up. The one fault is the butt carving behind cheek looks like an alien or something. I think there is enough wood to remove this carving. This would be a good starter gun for both shooting and carving. This was my first flintlock and I shoot it better than the ones I have built. Price is $1000 shipped. PM me if interested. I can email more photos.

The 50 caliber barrel is a Rice round bottom rifling 1-66 twist 36 1/4" long and the 40 caliber is an old barrel I bought 40 years ago and it might be a Douglas or Green Mountain it is 36 3/4". It has square bottom rifling. Not sure of twist but probably slow for round ball. LOP is 14 inches. This is why I can shoot it because most longrifles are way too short for me.
