I think he sold it for a million and bought a place in Key West!
OR maybe not!         It would be fun to see some pics of the finished project.

You guys need to stop spreading rumors about the fabled iron mounted ebay rifle. JTR did not sell it for millions contrary to what is being said here. He did recently buy a nice Ferarri, so it while it certainly wasn't millions, it could have been thousands, or maybe he just won the lottery.
Kidding aside, he is getting it back together and letting the wood settle down a bit. He showed it to me the other day and it is looking a whole lot better than when we all first came aware of it. Stay tuned. You won't be disappointed.

Dave, I have it, and I'm sort of working around to getting started on it!  :D

One problem was the warp to the forearm that needed to be straightened out some. See the pics below.
The forearm is back to relatively straight now, so as soon as I finish up a customers gun,,,,,

I did talk to a couple guys at the KRA show, and one very knowledgeable guy says he thinks it was likely made by Joseph Whitson of Henderson County, NC. I found a few pictures of Whitson made guns and this one has some of the same details as those, so maybe so.

The initials stamped on the percussion drum are most likely those of the guy that converted it to percussion from flint. Though originally flint, it's going to stay percussion at least while I have it.

I'll post up some pictures when I get it finished.
