Remove the cap on the loaded barrel, load the other it only takes a minute ,after ramming home the shot wad ramrod the loaded barrel sometime the shot wad may work loose and can cause an obstruction ,two loaded barrels are better than one you never know but the opportunity may arise for a left and right.

I've handled but never hunted with a few 150+ year old James Purdey and other English built percussion double barreled shotguns, I'll never forget the feeling of that level of quality sitting in my hands. And the balance, there's no words in the English language to describe it, except simply magical.
