Thanks! So if I start with a southern Mt blank, inletted for this barrel I will be on the right track?

I agree with Ed Wenger, good choice, its an English lock, about as fast as any made and very reliable. If you want a round tailed lock (like many southern rifles) you can easily grind the "teat" off the rear of the late Ketland.

The rifle Taylor pictured is heavy for people with arm-shoulder problems, but it holds beautifully for a flinlock offhand rifle.  It was even better with the 42" parallel sided 7/8" oct. in .40 cal.

Chambers Late Ketland is the way to go. they are fast.
