Sheath attachment?
« on: February 11, 2009, 08:30:05 PM »
I am currently making a knife sheath for a rifleman's style knife with a 10" blade. I have made the inter sheath from leather and plan to cover it with rawhide for additional strength and security. Any suggestions on the best method for attaching it to a sash or belt? I may wear it on my strong side hip or near the small of my back at an angle. String/lace, slit to thread belt through, loop, ring?? Any photos you may have would be helpful too. I'm thinking eastern longhunter style, not western trapper.

Thanks,

James

Many of my customers like a short flap sewed on the front, at the top, that goes over the belt, or sheath maybe 2, to 3 inches. May not be completely PC, but does not look out of place, and works very well.

LRB,

Awesome knife and sheath! Thanks for the picture and suggestion for attachment, I may try that, looks like a very practical solution.

I would appreciate any examples that others have had success with too.
