U and V gouges, chisels- rat tail files

 Where can I buy some of these in various sizes? to work on a couple of Powder Horns. Nobody and I mean nobody has them for sale. I've tried all my local hardware stores, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, Hobby Lobby and they do not have anything.

I'm in total agreement with Carl. They have a great selection of most any tools you would need. More than that, they have been great supporters of our Gunmakers Fair out here. Wonderful helpful people.

 Well they look nice and all, but I don't have the budget to pay those prices, I was thinking more in the $10 to $15 price range, $40 to $60 + is beyond my price range.

james e; Sir; Over many years I have laid away lots of wood working gouges. The last few years I have picked up about 15 tools on E-bay. Top names and ALL in GREAT shape. Prices all over the place. Good luck, hunting. AJ.

  I am interested in what you want to use the U and V gouges for on a horn?

How about chainsaw files?  I have two or three different sized rat tails from Lowes, probably three years ago.

  First learn how to recognize a good tool... Hit the on line auctions, yard/garage/estate sales.. It will take a while but they are out there....

I can understand the whole cheap vs expensive tool cunundrum. I learned to just buy one at a time until you have what you need. Good tools make anything more pleasant, cheap stuff can frustrate beyond words. You usually get what you pay for.
