Fusil de Trait ca. 1740 ish. 52 7/8" in 20 bore barrel by Hoyt, duplicate of my original French trade gun barrel. Oregon walnut stock. Home made buttplate, sterling thumb piece. The lock is a Tulle lock by TOTW, nice lock by the way, super fast, chambers internals.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Particularly believable Mike.  Love the wood and colour.

Thanks all. I would have liked to antique it a bit more, but since the wood was $600+ the owner was a bit anxious. ;)

Here's the first stab at building the gun, the PO had a major malfunction. >:( This stock only cost $500. ::)

Working on additional antiquing - I've added 2 or 3 dings myself. :)
Slender and light, 7-1/2 lbs. Swings and shoulders really well.
Standing upright its 69"-70", an inch or so taller than I am. "Sometimes you gotta pull out your BIG GUNS". ;D
I have to load it with the butt resting well behind me.

Love the gun Mike but that first stock blank must have brought on some unprintables.
