Don Getz(Service information added)
« on: November 26, 2014, 04:44:11 PM »
It is with great sadness that I must announce that Don Getz passed away last night. Please pray for John and Don's wife Gail at this sad time. There was no better friend to the muzzleloading community than Don.He was a constant promoter of muzzleloading building and mentor to new builders.I will miss him greatly.

I will update as I get more information.

Very sorry to learn of Don's passing. Don provided so much to this forum and the muzzleloading community. I will miss his sometimes pithy remarks, his humor, and the knowledge he so readily provided for us all.

My condolences to his wife Gail and to his family. Sad times, celebrate him.

This is such sad news.  My condolences to John and the rest of the Getz family.

Don was always such a joy to encounter.  He always greeted a person with sincerity and kindness.  He always seemed to see the joy in life and pass that sense of joy to all he met.  When I was first starting out trying to build a passable rifle, Don was always gracious in his comments, ever focused on helping, not hurting.

I will miss him.

Sad news indeed.  One of the good ones that I guess a lot of us took for granted . He leaves a  real legacy behind.
I remember what a special day it was the first time I managed to get my hands on a Getz barrel.  Prayers go out to the family.  I will miss him.

I saw Don's name on the first topic this morning and knew what it must be.   I didn't want to open it like it would somehow change things if I didn't know for sure.   I could always count on Don for a cheerful greeting whenever I saw him.   He was one of those people I always looked forward to seeing.  It seems this sort of unwanted news is becoming more frequent for me these days.

We have lost a gentleman. Is it too early for a toast to his memory? This is so sad. I'll be offering thanks for having had Don in my life, even though we were never face-to-face.

Mitch,
Thanks you for passing the news.  There will be two big holes, one in his family, and another in the muzzleloader fraternity.  It just won't be the same in our little square of "Old Guys'  AT THE Lewisburg Show.  God must have taken up muzzleloading, and needed advice...

It was such a pleasure to have known Don.  I looked forward to talking with him every year at Lewisburg.  I'll also miss his advice on ALR.

In the summer of 09 I chanced to visit Don and John at their shop in Beavertown. What a wonderful memory that visit became....to see the shop and talk with Don as he worked on a rifle.  My great regret is having to miss a sheduled trip to see Don and John last summer.
We all thinking of you Don and will miss reading your posts here.  Our prayers and wishes for peace go out to you and your family.

Very Sad news indeed! Knowing Don for the many years he has contributed to our forum and having had the pleasure on several occasions of his presence, I truly feel the loss of a good friend. He really  was a "Hero Member" around this place and will forever be missed.  My condolences and prayers go out to his family.
