Sad news indeed. I never met Don in person, but shared some correspondence with him long before this internet stuff. He seemed happy to share more information that the Nooby that I was then, could absorb. Since I came here, Don's voice was an authority I knew I could count on.
Heartfelt condolences to his family and to all of us here.

Very sad news.  I met Don through this forum years ago when I was first contemplating if I could attempt a build.  Don convinced me to jump in. He even invited me to the shop.  Dixon's and Lewisburg will be strange this year.  My sincere condolences to John and Gail. RIP

My heartfelt condolances to the Getz family.   I never had the pleasure of meeting Don, but my flag will fly at half mast in his honor.

Seems like he must have gone quietly in his sleep. That is a blessing.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Wow, what a way to start thanksgiving morning.  He was very gracious to me in the early days on the old forum and will be sorely missed. My condolences, and prayers go out to John and the family.

My mother chose the following for her funeral. Always seems appropriate.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little–but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
 Miss me–but let me go.

For this is a journey that we all must take
 And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the Master's plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
 Miss Me–But Let me Go!

A quick witted story teller, a kind gentleman. Sincere, and always willing to help. A wealth of knowledge that few of us will every achieve in our sport. Don will be missed.
John, and family...remember how special he was to so many.  And just hopefully, that will help fill the void left in your hearts. You are in our prayers
In His grip,

Dane

I found this sad news when I checked out the website this morning.

I had the privilege of talking with Don over the phone but sense that I am poorer for not having a chance to do so in person.

My condolences to and prayers for the family.

A true gentleman who introduced me into the gun making world.  The support he gave while I was in Afghanistan I can never repay.  I will treasure the rifle he made for me and always remember the camaraderie and joy he gave.
