I learned on another site about an alternative bore light to the ones we usually buy at muzzleloader sites.
It can be found at O'Reilly's automotive stores and is the "SuperRay" LED technology light for about $12.
It is smaller in diameter than the bore light I purchased at one of the muzzleloader shops and looks like it will fit down a .36 cal. I have used it in a .45 cal flintlock.
If there is any problem with it, it is too bright to look at down the bore. I found a piece of gray, translucent plastic that was a report cover, cut a very small, round piece, and put it over the LED.
Walla (Voila, Viola - my French is very poor)! It is very effective. In my .50 and .54 cal muzzleloaders, I can put it in the barrel light first and still see the walls of the bore.
