Where to get a piece of wood?

I looking for a blank or log in the area of 3 1/2'' thick, 10'' wide, and 40'' long. I would like a high grade piece as well. Where is a good source for such a piece? Thank you

For the average stock, I buy #4s from Dunlap that I hand select in person at his warehouse.  The cost including my time and gas is around $260, and I can often end up with a piece of wood as good as a $400 or $500 stock purchased elsewhere.  If I want something special, it comes from Harrison Sawmill.   I don't think I have ever bought anything less then $320 from Harrison and that was a long time ago.   You better figure $500 and up from Harrison.   Nathan will pick a few per your spec and e-mail you photos from which to pick.

I have a stack of 3 inch red maple planks but they aren't fancy. Mostly plain grain. There was some curl in the butt, it mostly plays out I think. There were two crooks in the tree that work out well to get good grain direction through the wrist in both logs I sawed. Look at the post about band sawing blanks.

I searched for the thread about "band sawing blanks" with no results. Any more info on this?

Sweeney has some good stuff very hard and fiddleback grade. Am working on a couple now, long gun and a pistol
