Still wringing it out...
« on: January 10, 2015, 04:58:00 AM »
Since I am the new guy in the woods, thought I would throw it out there...
I have owned this beauty for about a month now (counting shipping time) and am still getting her dialed in. My Tennessee Bean Southern Mountain .36 squirrel whacker. Hopefully, the postal, service will be nice and the White Lightning liner will be here tomorrow...

What would you like to know?
The mailman let me down and didn't bring my liner so that won't happen until next week. Colerain 13/16" straight octagon barrel, small Siler lock, tuned trigger, iron hardware... Cheek piece is drilled for a quill.  Here are some more pictures...

Htredneck, New guys often turn out to be "old timers" in knowledge.  Your rifle's architecture is very much like my Tn rifle but mine's a "poorboy".  I have to say that you have a very fine rifle and I like it.

Regards installing that White Lighting - do you know if your present touch hole may have been coned from the inside? I'm asking because it is something to check on before drilling for a liner. Is the rifle slow to fire or does it fail to fire too often? If so it doesn't likely have an internal cone. You'll like what a White Lighting does btw, especially if the rifle is giving ignition problems. Night and day.

Maker was Ray Franks at Sitting Fox.
Even though he has most of his guns built for him, he assured me he built this one himself. I was bouncing around the Internet one night looking for squirrel rifles and came across it. I kept looking but for almost a month I couldn't get the patchbox out of my head. It was unique enough that I finally decided I had to have it...

Now if I could just find a fowler that does the same thing to me!

oh, i see.

I was really confused how the name "Bean" and "Tennessee" got attached to this rifle.  I get it now.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and the squirrels won't.

Also-if you ever get tired of the same old Squirrel try:
