So is the post about Coyotes

The thread about coyotes got out of hand and ugly, so the moderators yanked it.

I've asked the other moderators about the missing multi-groove rifling post, and so far it's a mystery.  We did not purposely delete it.  It could have been accidentally deleted by the original poster or a moderator, or some other unknown occurrence.

Right.  Like we moderators have nothing better to do.  You know, if every one read and abided by the posted rules, and treated their fellow ALR members civilly, we moderators could spend a lot more time in the workshop.

Mea culpa,
I got so excited about the "poly groove" rifling that I posted a picture of an Adams patent revolver made by "J. Calderwood  Dublin"  that had 14 grooves for .375 cal.  I then realized that it was inappropriate for a sidelock and longrifle forum, and asked Dennis to delete it.  He must have deleted everything.  Sorry!!!

Oh its not a big deal. I just wanted to make sure that it wasn't something I did or that I  am losing what's left of my mind, lol.

Opps, I must have deleted the topic rather than just the one post that George asked me to delete. I am sorry, must have had a brain cramp, I didn't mean to delete the entire topic.

Somebody definetly has the deleting fever. Everytime, or just about every time I find time to get online and go to ALR,I read new posts and someone has deleted the photos that went with it. I am talking about a day or two from the time that it was posted. What gives?
Why are they deleted? I know if I posted photos for everyone to see , I would be highly p___ed if mine were deleted. All photos in my    opinion  should be left up  so  every one can see them and  learn from them!  Please dont continue to do this. Why post photos at all if no one gets to see them.

No moderators are systematically deleting photos.

Here's what happens with posts or topics being deleted.  People post things that break the forum rules.  Whether posts break rules intentionally or not, those posts get edited or deleted.  When a whole string of posts in a topic breaks the rules, then the whole thing goes.  We notify those who posted about the violation.  If they persist they will get a vacation.  If the violations are severe, like abusive language, profanity or other sorts, it could be a ban.

This forum is not a catch-all.  The rules are pretty simple.  The result seems to be the best longrifle forum on the planet, in the history of the world, one might say, if a feller leaned toward the grandiose.  The moderators didn't start it or build it but we try to maintain it.

If it's a great forum it is because of the contributions of many who share their knowledge of and passion for the longrifle.

Topnot/Tim,

Deleted pictures are maddening, I agree, but it's not the moderators doing it.

We all know that to show a photo on ALR, the photo must be uploaded to a photo hosting site, like PhotoBucket, TinyPic, etc.  Then the owner of the photo pastes a link to that specific photo here on ALR.  But if that photo is deleted from the photo hosting site, then the link is dead and the photo will be gone from ALR too.

HEY, ALL YOU PHOTO OWNERS AND POSTERS.....  STOP DELETING YOUR PHOTOS OFF YOUR HOSTING SITE!!!!!
