Eric Von Aschwege / Jacob Kuntz style rifle

I have been lurking here for a while, but this is my first post. I know that Eric is a moderator here and I hope I am not stealing his thunder by posting this. I am just thrilled with his work.

This is a once in a lifetime rifle, at least for me. Last May or so I commissioned  Eric von Aschewege of Neahkahnie Flintlocks to build a Jacob Kuntz style rifle.  Weather permitting I will hook up with Eric this weekend (or next) to take delivery. On Sunday, March 8 I will be 64 and this is my birthday present to myself. Woo hoo! I have not allowed myself to get excited until now.

The weather would really have to be bad to stop me from making that pick-up and I live in VA :D I am sure you will be proud of the rifle, Eric does outstanding work. I hope you enjoy the new rifle and also your time here on ALR.

I guess to wish you a Happy Birthday would be redundant...you already are!

A most elegant rifle to be sure.  Congrats to you and Eric.

Hi Goose,
Congratulations and great choice of gun and gunmaker.  I am a fan of Eric's work and I know your rifle will be an heirloom of the highest quality.  I hope that I am still alive to see the work of Eric and other young makers like Jim Kibler when they are in their fifties.  I am sure it will be exciting.

Great rifle Goose.  Never seen a Kuntz or Aschwege I didn't like.  I got your six.  Mav

Absolutely stunning!  Beautiful design and execution, Eric.  Goose, I can't imagine a better birthday present.  My only thought, Goose, being in MA like Eric, keep an eye on the weather forecast.

Welcome to the meeting Mr. Taylor, perhaps you could share with the group some of your experiences of what being a kuntzaholic has meant to both you and those you love...

Eric, Goose - just saw the rifle on Contemporary Makers, outstanding! I fully intend to borrow freely from it...  ::)

He's a guy who started at a high level with his first long rifle and keeps ramping it up. Maybe the architect in him have him a leg up but I think it's the STUDY he does that makes the final product believable.

So you're the lucky owner...  Good for you!   Great way to make your introduction here.  You certainly have fine taste.

That's a great rifle.

Nice job Eric.

I always enjoy that style of rifle from that area of Pennsylvania and this one is no exception. Kuntz was one of the masters.
