Holy cow, Jim!  Absolutely fantastic.  What kind of wood and what is the finish?  Can't imagine that it was easy to carve that burl.

Absolutely beautiful work Jim!  The contrast you achieved with the burl is excellent, and will only continue to develop as the finish ages.

That's incredible. I especially like the detail work on the lock, but the whole gun is fabulous .
Thanks for the photos Jim.

Hi Jim,
Beyond words!  It is so nice to see someone building 17th century guns and living up to the unsurpassed decorative standards of those times.  Very few guns from the 18th century and later compare with the artistry of that century.  Wonderful.

I really like that you're inspired by originals of the period and do European work that is seldom done.  There are not many making fine early European fowling pieces.

As has already been said, an out standing effort. The quality of the workmanship and wood is top shelf. Thanks for letting the rest of us see it.

What everyone else is saying! That stock looks like it is on fire..where in the world did you find that blank?
Did you do the carving on the lock/cock? Superb work.

Just stunning work.  I was wondering have you tried the tannic acid on any other wood or projects?  Is it as impressive on normal curly sugar maple?
