Which school has the least drop in it's stock?

I have some hard curly maple with excellent figure.  I am going to cut the plank into rough stocks.  There is not a lot of height to
the plank, but they are thick, so I was wondering which profile has the last drop (straightest stock).....Lancaster?

Most of your early American guns, and English game guns, would be a good start.

I suggest you read Taylor's post in the "most drop" thread, concerning butt pitch. The pitch angle of the butt is very important as if incorrect, will cause the comb jump and smack you, no matter what.

It's more a matter of time, than region.  The later the period, the more awful... I mean, er, the more drop the butt will have.

Not really. Many late Lancasters had very little drop and relied on cast off. And these dominated the market by a wide margin. Some , like Bedfords had an extreme drop.

I appreciate all the feedback. Now to find a lancaster to lay out on the plank.  Sounds like I need 8 inches minimim
