Bucks Co. influenced rifle

July 2013 I suffered a stroke - couldn't walk straight, couldn't write my name, couldn't talk too good either.
However after 10 days finally had a MRI which confirmed my suspicions.  Then came the decision as to whether I should take on the job of building the rifle which I had planned to do some months before.  My Doc. said that I should keep on going as nothing had ever happened - so I did!  A Bucks Co. influenced rifle was in the works.  This include: rifling my own barrel by hand, shaping the stock from a rough blank by hand,  making and modifying the brass furnishings by hand then doing all of the decoration ( carving, silver wire and the engraving by hand) the lock is a heavily modified old Siler.  20 months later is the result pictured below,

I do not know why the other photos of the rifle from Potobucket did not download?

Even as a younger and healther builder, I could never have created a rifle as beautiful as that.  Your doctor gave you good advice.

My dad went through a stroke but had some damage, as soon as he could he was back out in the garage restoring an old Ford.  Keeping busy is a great way to get through the difficulty of learning to adapt to the ravages of Health issues and life's challenges.  As for that rifle, very nice.  Hope you can show more pics.  Keep going at it.

Hi Guys,  I appreciate all of your positive comments - thanks. This rifle was the hardest one I have ever built but my determination paid off!  I built it in .58 cal. with a 42" swamped barrel of my own manufacture. The wood I had stored in my shop for 35 yrs. and it was from Slippery Rock PA.     There are many more photos but I cannot seem to transfer them to this site. I have tried several times now but no success!  Maybe someone could help,   Thanks,   Hugh Toenjes
