Little knife

A good friend Stoner Creek hammered out a rough blade blank from a hay rake tine, gave it to me and told me to file off everything that didn't look like a knife.  Once it was shaped, the antler handle fitted and drilled for pins, I took it back to SC and he hardened and tempered it.  I poured a little pewter bolster, fitted an old Indian penny in the butt end of the antler, and made a neck sheath of rawhide covered with buckskin with a little quill work on it.  Thought you might like to see it.  I'm donating it to the Kentucky Corps of Longriflemen for a fund-raiser.

Is there a way to whisper on the internet?  It's attached with epoxy.  I raised some burrs with a graver on the back side for a better grip.  I had intended to carve a face where the penny is.  I bought the antler piece at Friendship and the seller had written the price on the crown with a permanent marker.  I tried every chemical I could think of, but couldn't remove the ink, hence the inlaid penny.

Nice knife.  I would have left the 1893 Indian Head cent flat, but that is just my opinion.

As a numismatist, I cringe at the bending of old coins.

He did go after "tails" with a graver, so no foul?

As a restorer of old cars, I didn't much care for cutting old steel to make hotrods, but figured that it increased the value of my stock restorations.

Every old car that's made into a street rod does enhance the value of the surviving originals.On the other hand,
the surviving originals have no place on an interstate highway.I am thinking of originals from the 1930's.With the exception of a properly timed and tuned Duesenberg there are none that can sustain the 70+MPH speeds
required without blowing up.
