Hawksley powder flasks

This is a bit out of the subject of this part of our site, but I wondered if anyone had ever repaired the spring on the head of one of these Hawksley powder flasks. I took one apart and am boggled by it. Reassembling the thing seems daunting.

if it's like others with the exposed circular spring, screw it part way down, index it in the slot and then the end needs to be spread out to slip into the groove on the lever. you can use snap ring pliers to aid in spreading it big enough.
