I have had several of Jims barrels and all were the twist I asked for. One was a 45 but don t remember the twist rate. Even if he had a standard twist rate, that does not mean your barrel is cut to those specks. If you do have a Jim Goodoien barrel, you have a good one.

I also have several (future projects).  Customer orders and a long wait.  451 x 20 twist for slug...48 inch 40 x 72 twist for round ball with bananna tang ect.  Beautiful work

You can easily measure the twist of this barrel if the question is intended to learn what it may be.

Put a tight patch on your cleaning rod, run it tight up against the breech plug. Mark the top of your cleaning rod aligned with the front sight then pull the rod out slowly until the mark you made is 180 degrees from where you started and make another mark. This should be 1/2 a turn. Then measure the distance between the two marks. Lets say the distance is 24" so 1/2 turn took 24" so a full turn would take 48" so in this case the twist/rate of turn would be 1 turn in 48". If 1/2 turn took 33" the twist would be 1 in 66".

Works easiest if the rod has a swivel handle.

I make a flag out of masking tape that sticks straight up when the rod is bottomed against the plug.  I withdraw the rod until the flag is at 90 degrees from the vertical, measure the length and multiply by four.

Good morning. How to measure the twist in a given barrel ? "Works easiest if rod has a swivel handle". On the barrels I have stashed, the easiest way is to read on the bottom flat of the barrel in question. The methods stated farther in this thread will work well for unmarked barrels. I also measure twist in this manner, but usually a full 1/2 turn of the 'flag' on ML barrels. X2
