Gunbroker hacked
« on: June 11, 2015, 03:56:49 AM »
Gunbroker has been hacked.

I tried to log on to gunbroker.com a couple of days ago. My computer started saying Scary Things so I backed out. Malwarebytes found several items to clean out.

Anyone know if gunbroker has returned yet?

Looked at Colt's percussions for about 15 minutes today.  No problem. No malware.

I've had the same issue over the last couple of days.  The only way that I was able to clear the screen was to reboot my computer.  I did a system recovery to a date before it started and haven't had any other issues.  I've been back on gunbroker a time or two since I did a system recovery and haven't had any other issues, yet.

I just read people who are using Chrome are having problems but those using Explorer are not. Never tried it yet today, but yesterday it was working fine for me.

I too have had the "warning" come up twice this week while connecting to GunBroker.  I have an I-mac and the warning advised that I call some phone number (supposedly a Mac number).
I had to "force quit" Safari and it now seems to be working alright at this time.

I tried antiqueguns early on. The last 10 years I use Gunbroker only  and have done pretty well. I think you have a  much larger audience on GB. Plus they have so many features and it is easy. I myself almost forget about antiqueguns, until someone on this site gives an alert about a neat gun. I like to end mine on a Friday @ about 7 pm, or later,  after a person has worked hard all week, they feel they deserve something and may be having a few drinks.  ;D

I had a mishap over on Gunbroker a few days ago where my computer went on an unstoppable virus warning rant and to call this number......I just shut it down and restarted it with no more problems.  All of this and the problems going on over at the CLA site have me wondering if there is some kind of a wide spread threat to all of the gun related web sites??

I have been using Gunbroker hard for the last several weeks and have not had any attacks at all. I use Mozilla Foxfire 38.0.5 with Microsoft Essentials virus protection.

I don't buy much on the "net" anymore mainly because I like to see and hold what I am going to spend money on. I pretty much keep to a few dealers and individuals I know. Having said that, there is usually a pretty good selection of contemporary guns on this site in the classified section but I would like to see more antiques for sale. Why not pick a price you can live with and post it here first?  If it doesn't sell then run it through some auction. Just a thought, best regards, Jack
