Something from the Hagerstown MD area without any particular maker in mind. .50 cal 44 in. B wt Rice barrel. The triggers are the Davis Jaeger modified.

Bill,
Beautiful work as always. I really like the side plate, the engraving on the patch box and the carving. Stunning work!

Lordie Bill, I don't know anything about that style, but that is a fine piece of work. The rope border on the patchbox, running through the screws is outstanding.

Bill,
Wonderful gun as usual. I've never seen you do one that I didn't like. Hope to see it in a few weeks at Dixon's.

When I saw your name and Hagerstown in the title I was drooling with aniticipation, and it was well worth it! But you're just showing off with that little bi-metal thumbpiece.
Dare I ask what critter that is on the patchbox finial?

Very nice. Just out of curosity do you think origionals were this nice when new? I am not sure. There seems to be no point in making everything perfect if someone is going to carry it everyday in the woods. Maybe some were made perfect like this for very rich customers. I guess my best guess is that less than 3% of the rifles made were this nice when new. But then again I know very little and am sure of even less. Dan

I don't know much about Hagerstown, but your carving is very artistically pleasing! Nice clean, and well thought out workmanship!
