I agree with Dave.  Looks good.  Don't forget to round the corners a little.

It looks  lot like mine, but I sand them a little more before staining.

I think the "school" it represents is PERFECT --- "Early Lumber" from Manhatten or Bayonne -- but maybe the wood is a little too fancy ;D.

If that gun could talk it might say, "Do you think all this wood makes my butt look fat?"

Try some hose clamps. Bout 3 down the barrel should do it.

I wish I had a camera with me 4 years ago at an auction I went to. The ad said barrels, locks, handmade guns etc...  The handmade gun was built around/onto a rough cut piece of high grade pine, roughly the size of a 2X4, the butt plate was not filed, just held on with flat head wood screws.  Same for the trigger guard and lock.  The barrel was, in fact, held on with hose clamps.

Sounds like some chunk guns I've heard tell of.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?
