Nipple wrench with "screwdriver" action?
« on: July 03, 2015, 07:12:41 AM »
I have problems with my fingers that make it difficult for me to use any of the T-handled nipple wrenches. Where would I find mass produced nipple wrenches that function in a screwdriver's fashion?

At some time in the future, I would want such wrenches to be made to compliment custom rifles I am having built. Who makes such wrenches "to order?"

davec2 from this forum makes many "custom" tools and does very nice work.  I'm not sure he has exactly what you need, but he's worth contacting.  You can contact him at decrisalli@gmail.com, or a PM through this site.

Naphtall; Sir, I second Mr. "davebozell " assessment of Dave,s work. I'm sure you would be happy with David C,s craftsmanship. Have a great 4th. of July. AJ.

There is also a nipple wrench made that works like a ratchet wrench. Not sure who makes it but it is commercially available and might help.

I have seen that type of nipple wrench from some of the Made in India businesses.
Who sells them?  I would try Dixie Gun Works first.  After that, ???
I would be a bit suspect of the quality of steel and heat treating in the tool, myself.
And yes, Tedd Cash Mfg does sell the ratchet nipple wrench. but I have never tried it.
Hope this is of some help.

The one I saw I'm certain was from Ted Cash, wasn't a piece of junk for sure. It came with two different size nipple wrenches (rifle &  musket) to fit the handle.

To clarify what I said, the "screwdriver" type wrench is being made in India.  I would guess it looks better with a cased rifle or shotgun than it actually works.  Beware of the jaws spreading when loosening a tight nipple.

The ratchet style nipple wrench by Tedd Cash is very good.  Like all his products, they are all top notch, not junk.

Sorry for any confusion brought about by not clearly specifying what I was talking about.

John,
No problem here. I'm easily confused and stay that way mostly, I think.
