Interesting newspaper clipping surfaced in our local genealogy group which talks about Jonathan Altman
being convicted of burning his neighbors barn and committing suicide by ingesting strychnine on his way to prison. I can get a
copy to anyone interested in this family of gunsmiths. I believe Frederick Altman was his father. I've not seen a Jonathan Altman rifle but Frederick built some wonderful longrifles.
