Hudson Valley fowler

Hello 'yall,
I have been considering building a Hudson Valley style fowler, but I have one obstacle first (aside from time, of course).... the barrel. Where in Sam's hill does one find a barrel that would be long enough for an accurate rendition of such a long gun?

Charlie Burton is FCI Barrels http://fcibarrels.tripod.com/   Yes his work is first rate from my experience and I intend to buy more barrels from him in the future.

Mike Brooks posted a picture of a Hudson Valley style fowler he made that had a barrel long enough to double as a firehouse pole.  I don't recall where he got the barrel, but perhaps someone else knows or Mike could tell you if you contacted him.

The barrel that Mike used on that gun was made by Bennie Coogle of Ga. I don't have contact info. for Bennie and don't know if he's still making barrels.     Bob

I have used a 72" 12 bore barrel Ed made but IIRC  Ed told me he changed machines since that barrel and can only do up to 66".

You can get two 66", and Taylor's machine shop can put them together for you.....mr Taylor can do magic!

But then the wood will be a special booger to find..... :o

ONE day.......I'm gonna build a "wall gun"......

Back in the day Getz (Don) would make a 72" barrel octagon to round fine threaded at the wedding band that I thought was unique until I handled a old trade gun at the Rockwell Museum in Corning NY with a 72" barrel that was threaded and the stock was spliced at the entry thimble.
