Jim, Thanks for the encouragement. I forged the plug thinking that forging would refine the iron some and help align the grain structure and make it stronger. (Plus I like forging.) I know there are a lot faster and easier ways to do things, but I want to learn as much as I can about the original craft. My goal is to some day be able to create the whole rifle, "lock, stock, and barrel", with original methods. Then I may be able to say I am a gunsmith. I just pulled up your breech plug thread again. I thought I followed your posts pretty close, but I must have missed the one for the die you made. Fantastic!
