Need Pistol Ideas
« on: August 04, 2015, 06:13:37 PM »
Hi all,
I'm in need of some ideas for a pistol build.
What I have...
A beautiful piece of burled maple rough cut to pistol shape (plenty of wood to work with)
A right hand flat face Becky flintlock
Choice of .32 or .45 cal. octagon barrel 13/16 x 12 inch long (I can cut, breech, and/or turn)
I would like steel furniture as I can forge whatever is needed.
Any ideas? Pics would help.
Thanks for looking,
Dave

I am in the same boat Dave, hope you get some good ideas. I have a really nice oct./rd. brass Ed Rayl .54 rifled pistol barrel I am looking for inspiration for. I have a little L&R Manton lock and a couple Engish style smaller kits I could use. At the rate I go it will be a long time before I get my current build done.

Mark Wheland made an absolute stunner that he showed at Lewisburg a couple of years ago.  The 12" barrel would be appropriate.  Here's a link to a photo from his website.  There are probably better pictures.
