I have to agree with Ken.  The lock IMO adds a lot of charisma to a already very charming rifle.  I am assuming this lock is a modified 1803 pistol lock?  tim

Were these locks sold to the general public with stampings or would this be considered a salvage lock?

Don't know about the other parts on the lock but the cock looks pure Pedersoli.

I just pulled out an old Pedersoli lock that I've had for years. And the cock does look exactly like that one. The "engraving" is the same and the shape of the top jaw and everything else. Even the cock screw looks the same. Maybe the lock was converted back to flint years ago and they just used what was available?

The lock is original to the gun. The cock and some lock screws have been replaced. It is a harpers ferry pistol lock .The lock bolt side plate is not original.These parts where replaced before i bought the rifle. From what i understand the lock is more rare than the rifle . I tried to remove the replaced screws. But they are tight , i guess the screws are metric and where just forced in so i left them in .

 Revised   I found the info Jerry Noble told me .  As for a maker , this is my guess . Around the Knoxville area there was a maker Wm Keller. I have seen 3 myself. He made several boys rifles. After he died his son finished a boys rifle his father Wm. had started . I think it came from the Knoxville area and may be a rifle one of the  Kellers built . The barrel is very close to what Wm made . Jerry said it could have been Samuel Keller, Wm Kellers father . Samuel did not sign many of his guns , if he did sign one it was S.K.   We may never know who made the little gun
