TOW consignments?

Hey Guys
 I was wondering if anyone here who has sold a rifle through Track could tell me  about how long it took to list your gun from the time they received.They have had one of mine for over a month.I called once and they said they were busy but  would get right to it.I really don't want to pester them but I can't see where they've had any new listings in quite a while.Thanks,Ron

Hi Ron.  Welcome to the forum.  Your best bet is going to be call Track.  They are the guys that have your gun.  I'm sure they had rather you pester them than to post negatively about them on the net. 
We don't allow neg. post since we only get one side of the story.

I've done several. It usually takes about two weeks after you agree on price.

Thanks for the reply Ken.I actually have been a member of the board for several years although not a frequent poster.After a hiatus I must have forgotten my user name which I thought was the same as I'm using now.
  I certainly did not mean to slam TOW.I have ordered many parts from them over the years and have received nothing but great service.
 Perhaps I should have just limited my post to the simple question "How long does it take to have a gun listed by TOW?"No more no less.I am still curious.
 As far a negative post,Over the years there has been one vendor repeatedly trashed  on this forum to the point I would never consider doing business with them.I don't remember hearing their side of the story or anyone called out for negativity.But like I say I've been gone awhile and perhaps the "forum decorum" has changed.
 I personally welcome all "honest" feedback and reviews positive or negative. That is very often what I'm searching for.Sorry if I broke any rules.Ron

My son recently sold a rifle on TOW.  I believe it took about six weeks from the time he sent the gun until it was listed. Fortunately, it sold in less than half that time.  Rifles on TOW seem to be moving well the last few weeks.

I've sent them quite a few over the years and found the turnaround time - time from rifle's arrival to time listed - somewhat varied and probably (I imagine) dependent upon their workload.  I do believe once or twice it may have taken 4 weeks or so.  I have always found David, Carole, Ethan and Co. to be very prompt in their replies to inquiries and I've never had a problem getting ahold of someone on the phone, so if you give them a yell I'm sure you'll get accurate info immediately.

I didn't have a good ordeal- I put a Hawken rifle on there that had awsome sugar maple- best parts you could get- they spent more time talking it down than I could imagine. They have their regulars that they have deemed Famous and try to push their first- virtually most of the Rifles they sell are TOW Kits- I saw a York rifle on there and another Virginia Rifle and they were the same Kit- I was under the understanding that when the rifle sells you make most of the money- My rifle sold for $900. and I got a check for $450. they said the difference was their Computer work and listing $450. worth. I will say don't be shocked if you get the shaft like I did- There was a Eric Kettenberg rifle on there for about 2 years, I bet when it sold- somebody had to pay them even more after their hidden fees- PINYONE

I sold a gun there 7 years ago. I told them I wanted $1050 for it, and that's exactly what I got. They sold it for about $1400.

In the past 2 years I have done a far share of business with the guys at ToW.  Overall I think that they have meet my expectations including 1 purchase in trade and 3 sales.  Now when I decided to sale through ToW it was not that I was looking to make a profit, more just aiming to come close to recoup what I had paid for the guns, but accepting that I might have paid more than I should at the start.

ToW recommended quickly to my offer to sale, gave me an option of cash on the barrel, a quick consignment price or a higher end but risker consignment price.

Well since those 3 guns in my closet had lost my interest, I took the money and used it to buy a custom gun that will hang on the wall for a long time.

As a trading post ToW has done a good job of helping many builders and collectors move their items.  Do they make a profit, I hope so!  We need them to stay around.

Thanks for all the feed back.I did receive a letter stating that they would accept my rifle for consignment at my asking price and offered to buy it outright at a lesser price.
After a week or so I began to wonder if they were waiting for me to reply and gave them a call and they said they were very busy due to a lot of sellers driven by the present economic mess but would list it soon.That was 10 days ago.(Like I said I may be becoming a little short on patience)
 I was beginning to wonder what is was they were so busy at though as I haven't seen any new listings in a while.
 I'll say again that I have had nothing less than excellent service in all my dealings with TOW in the past.
 They did suggest that I should be prepared to let it ride for a year.Perhaps I should call and clarify if that is to sell the gun or have it listed.

Thanks Rich.I actually posted pictures of it on this forum a couple years ago when I completed it.Overall I was very pleased with it,but as Acer was so kind to point out
my woodworking /carving skills greatly surpass my engraving abilities.lol.The somewhat folksy signature is not contrived.
 I should add that what is right with this rifle is the result of knowledge gleaned form this forum.If I didn't thank everyone than I would like to do it now.
 Hopefully soon I can find the time to get back into it and hang out a little more.Thank,Ron
