Announcing a New Website for the NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar at WKU
« on: September 02, 2015, 06:13:22 AM »
The folks at the seminar decided there was a real need for an improved method of getting information out to the world about the annual NMLRA Gunsmithing Seminar at WKU.  The word got out that I was a nerd so I was asked if I could create a website to help get the information sharing into the 21st century.   ;D  Many folks here have asked how to find information about the seminar.

The website has lots of general information about the seminar, Class and Registration information, photos from past seminar etc.  The website will likely have some changes, corrections and additions as time goes on and as material is submitted.  It will be updated with current information each year for future Seminars.  Comments for improvement are welcomed and will always be considered.

Some of the classes to be offered in 2016 are still tentative but will be locked in by October 1st, as noted on the website.

Here is the link: http://www.nmlragunsmithingseminar.org/

The site is mobile device friendly, but it is best viewed on a computer.

Moderators, please feel free to move this where you deem appropriate, and if you could make it a sticky that would be awesome!

Thanks for looking,
Curtis

Great job on the website.  That's a wonderful addition to an already outstanding program.

Thanks guys!  It's been quite a learning experience, but is is a very worthy cause so it's well worth the effort.  I am still struggling to get good search engine results but at least have it showing up on the first page on Bing and Google.  I'll keep hacking away at it....

Thanks Curtis.  It looks really nice.  I can't speak highly enough about the seminar.  I was a student for many years and an instructor the last several.  A fantastic learning experience and a great time.

I second all of the above. This is a great looking website you put together, Curtis! I went to  the WKU seminars back in the mid 80's for two years (I'm in the back row of the old black and white group picture you posted on the site) then after a long absence, went back again the last two years. The courses and instructors have been great every time I've gone, and I'm looking forward to going again next year. There's probably no other place in the world that so many gurus in this discipline are brought together in one place, willing to share their experience and knowledge. A fantastic experience!

Brokenflint,

Yes, I would appreciate any photos you can send me!  I will send you a PM with my email and snail mail addresses.

Also if you have any testimonials or stories that would be good for the site I could use them as well.

Where in the area do most of the students stay during the seminars?  I'm thinking of attending and bringing my RV to an area campground or possibly just staying in a nearby motel.

Mole Eyes,

I am waiting on some motel information and I will post it on the website when I get it in my hands - not certain when that will be.  That being said, many students stay at the Red Roof Inn in Bowling Green, where a discounted rate has been offered for many years in the past, I think it should also be offered this year, but can't say for sure. Here is a google map link with info:  https://www.google.com/maps/place/Red+Roof+Inn+Bowling+Green/@36.9416331,-86.4223763,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x52f8b8d2a28070d7

Several students also stay at a local RV park, if I can get the name of the park I will post it here as well as on the website.

Curtis,

Thanks, any information on the RV park that some of the students use would be great.  Since it's such a long haul from down the Florida peninsula to that area I was thinking of making the trip to the seminar and then going on to the NMLRA Spring shoot from there.
