Not So Poor Boy pouch and horn set

Here is the link to a utube video of a "Not So Poor Boy" hunting pouch and horn set I recently finished...Its just too fancy to be a true poor boy, but not fancy enough to be ...well, fancy I guess.

about the tin, no vinegar was used, I believe the tin is actually just that old...
and as far as I know its aged naturally with time and exposure to the elements.

I like the nail holding the strap to the base plug.  I don't think I have seen that before.

Thanks again for all the good words...I do appreciate them very much...

Tacking a strap to a horn is actually an old time way to do it...I've had a few
old original horns with the end plugs pock-marked with small holes near the center where
tacks had been driven in many times...not sure if the tacks were coming loose, if the horn strap was breaking...or maybe both...

That's a nice job on the not so fancy poor boy pouch, I like the way the binding transitions into the strap hangers. Is that Bonnie playing the banjo ? Well done Tim....

Thank you, I wasn't sure if it was naturally aged or not.
 I like how the outer seam transitions into the bag strap. I don't think I've seen that before. It looks really good. Maybe one day I'll give it a try. I think I still need to get the basics down first though.

Frank, how did you know we got a banjo a few weeks ago...and yep, Bonnie was playing on it some...
not on the sound bite for the pouch images though...

The transitioning seam into strap hanger is pretty a neat trick...an old pouch made that way is illustrated in Jim Webb's book...

I feel gypped! The puppy ate the speaker so I didn't get the Banjo music. But I think the set is first rate. Very nice work.

If I may ask...
Who did the strap you used? I am looking for a good source for a few straps that utilize more natural, or toned down, colors and that one looks exceptionally weel made...

The strap is just a salvaged old waist belt, not sure who made it...like most of my other raw materials, I keep my eyes opened for them whenever we are out at the flea markets, sales and junk shops...
