Everything was fine for your drilling, until you neglected to check to see exactly where the hole ended up.  To do that, you needed to drill into the hole from the inside of the barrel channel, insert a wire and check for depth and orientation...than trace that info on the side of the stock BEFORE YOU REMOVED THE WOOD FROM THE BOTTOM.

Yes. I completely neglected to do that.  It's in Peter Alexander's book and his dvd I've been watching as well.  Didn't quite understand the need.

Now, in stark reality, I do.

No Bill, that's a bad one. Language was not pretty. But it covered a big old booboo. Life goes on.

Thanks for following and helping y'all.

I know my lock panel needs to be a good bit smaller and I have a lot of wood to take off the wrist yet.  What else do you all see that I can't?

I like this building from a blank.  It's a lot of work but - not sure if I can express what I'm feeling - I'm really getting the shape and the feel of the stock in me.

My last build was from a precarve.  Sure, I did a boatload of shaping, but the geometry was already there.  With this, I almost get to make it appear outta thin air.  Kinda cool to a newb like me.

Good luck with that particular model of lock. I used 2 of them decades ago and never could get them to work to my satisfaction.

Dang. Oh well, another 100 bucks or so down the drain.

Change to the double throat cock and cut one hacksaw kerf cut across the front "leg" then bend it closed and weld it. Should spark well then.

Yes, I finally decided to listen to you experts and purchased a small Siler!

I have a small Siler kit I haven't put together yet, how do they perform. I like my large Siler. Are they as good?

David - if you are asking me I cannot answer as this is my first Chambers lock and only my second build. It sure looks and feels like a very nice lock.
