Garrett lock ?

I have a little flintlock, just the lock marked Garrett tool co. Norfolk, Va.  Looks like never on a gun.
 Seems to be a good sparker & has bridle & fly. 
 Anybody ever hear of 'em ?

I would also like to see the Garrett lock. Over the years,the last 60 or so there have been a number of really nice locks offered but the stingy attitudes of that time frame soon  stopped any ideas the makers might have had about offering a decent lock to make a muzzle loader with.Publish a photo if possible.

A man by the name of Frank Garrett imported various black powder firearms from Italy in the 60's and 70's. His Garrett Sharps carbine was popular with NSSA shooters. He also imported a cap lock Purdy rifle reproduction. I knew Frank and he lived in Norfolk Va. and operated as Garrett Arms as I remember. Garrett was a machinist by trade.

It is essentially identical to the lock that was on my Numrich Arms Minuteman in the 70s.

Let's see the lock which is INSIDE the plate. Externally it's not very impressive.

Yep, just like the lock on the old Minuteman. It's a plain jane lock inside without a fly. Mine sparks well, but is nothing to write home about otherwise.

I would say, by the drilled and tapped hole just forward of the tumbler bridle, that this lock has been mounted on a rifle.  In the very least, it is set up to be mounted on a rifle, perhaps a production style rifle with the lock bolt in a universal location.

  If you can see that it has a fly, you must have X-Ray vision. Mine has no fly, and no provision on the tumbler for one.

I had a 'Garrett Arms' Mississippi once. Well made repro. Probably out of the 1970's or 80's.

It has a fly, right where it's supposed to be when I disassembled it.....Tom
