A collector of southern rifles, John Ashworth
« on: December 13, 2015, 03:20:15 AM »
Most people who collect Southern rifles, Bowie Knives, saddles and some other things, have at least heard of John Ashworth. I am sorry to have to say that he died today. John was a long time friend, a great collector and a true Southern Gentleman. I will miss him greatly.. Louie Parker

We are all poorer for this.  Let's remember the happier times and our good fortune in knowing him.

Louie,  In the thirty years I've known you John's name has come up often in our conversations. If I remember correctly some of the stories  of things he said or did were on the funny side.   I believe you even  sold me a rifle from his collection one time . I'm sorry I never had the honor  of meeting him . I know he was a dear friend to you.  God Bless.   JIM

Louie,

It is clear from your post and others that John was a fine man and friend. I have no doubt that his influence in yours and the lives of many will continue in many positive ways. I who didn’t know him feel his loss just by having known you, and also feel joy at what was, I am certain, a life well lived.
