Just posted this year's flintlock buck last week, but here are some from the past few seasons.

Smoothbore 16 gauge at home...

.54 during early MZ season at home year before that...

Another from my home farm, big 7 with the .54...

Best buck with flint so far, trip to my buddy's farm in southern Iowa a few years ago...

Smoothbore woodies...

Dandy Iowa buck. Must have been a real feeling of satisfaction to take that deer with a flint rifle. Tim

Here a deer and a bear I got this year. The deer was taken with a .58 by Ron Luckenbill. The bear was with a .50 by Mike Miller.

I got the big buck with a Leonard Day swivel breech in a rain storm. I didn't get him in a fenced area (I've been asked!) This was after I got him home.

No Pat, I'm in western Montana. The Lexington in my user name comes from the 1st Lexington aircraft carrier in WW2. I had an uncle that was on her.

Small world. My Dad was on the Lexington prior to WWII. Then he went to submarine school, and spent the rest of the war in the submarine service. He served on the Wahoo and the Drum. He luckily shipped off the Wahoo just before she went out on her last war patrol. Sorry no hunting pictures this year so far. The deer I shot in the early season required two shots. Leaving no tasteful way to take pics. But it sure tasted good. BJH

That's pretty neat that your dad was on the Lexington. This is a hunting thread so I will just say that my uncle did have a Japanese hunting license signed by Nimitz  ;D

This was back in 2011 or 2012. The 16 ga flint fowler is one I had not even completed when I took it out. Note the "colors" on the barrel where I soldered the lugs on the day before. Probably can't make it out but the front sight is a piece of #12 copper wire since I didn't have a proper front sight to out on it.

The 12 ga percussing double and yellow lab belong to my hunting buddy.

This deer was killed by Tim Cosby on 1-24-16 in Montgomery County, AL.   The rifle is a .54cal. copy of the No. Carolina rifle #194 in Mr. Ivey's book.  It was built by Mark Silver.

Great pics everyone! Had an exciting morning on Jan. 13th. 10 minutes apart, one average and one large doe.

I don't hunt the hard way, I hunt a simpler way.

Thats how long it takes me to load!
Not really, but I do not load very fast.
Congratulations on the great hunt.

Four small bears disguised as raccoons.
We skinned them and I gave them to a butcher friend as his brother
was a trapper. I said throw that bag of coon hides on your scale to see
what it weighs. 4 coon hides. 27 pounds.
The lighter colored gun is a 40 cal.
The dark gun is a 32 cal.

Here is a few I have taken with my iron mounted southern rifle built by Don Bruton

And a few longbeards with a 12 ga that I built

Nothing beats the feel of a handmade southern iron mounted flintlock on a cold frosty morning
