Hawken style pistol breach plug and tang ?

I've got three pistol pistol barrels that I cut from a GM 7/8" rifle barrel that I messed up. I am thinking of making a Hawken style pistol from one and am wondering if anyone knows of a source for the BP and tang in this size? All I've located have been over or under.

I bought the one I used in my Hawken pistol from TOW in 1979...but it's for a 15/16" bbl...

Those are all for 1" barrel.

You can make the 15/16 " breech work it's only 1/32 oversized on each flat. A good file and a little time is all it will take. Same way I do to use an 1 1/16" barrel with 1 1/8" breech

Make it a flinter - no problem. What calibre and twist? I was able to get a 60" twist 10" .54 to shoot well, but had to use 55 to 60gr. 3F - it is about as powerful as my .44M29 4"S&W, driving a 220gr. ball to 1,200fps. Nice hand flinter- kicks like it too!

Daryl, I got three barrels. One of them is planned for a flint build someday. These blanks are .45 cal.

 Clark, let me show my ignorance here. I think you are asking for a pistol hook breech. Did Hawken pistols use a hook breech or merely a patent breech? I'm sure someone on here knows. Either way a hook breech would be keen.

I don't know the exact terminology for the two piece snail shaped percussion breech whether its hooked or patented. I also don't know much about Hawken pistols either, except they were largely outdated by the time Jacob died. I just think the style looks nice and would be a cool project, and could be as hard hitting as the .45 Colt cartridge, which would be an improvement over the power of the percussion wheel guns I own.

I don't have a Walker. Just a couple of Colt navies and a .44 Remington. Fun to shoot but not powerhouses.

Ok guys please stop the modern revolver discussions. We try not to be so strict and we see what happens. Once it gets started it just keeps going. Lets stick to sidelock rifles/pistols like our rules say.

On the other hand - LOl - just kidding.

I don't think the stock of Taylor's pistol would take a 'hunting' charge, however my .54 flint pistol does like 55 to 60gr. as noted. THAT is quite powerful with a 220gr. .526" patched round ball - accurate, too. All the power needed, for a point blank finishing shot.
