Antler Powder Measure
« on: January 30, 2016, 08:56:56 PM »
This is an antler powder measure I just finished up for a customer. It's based on a couple of original examples(most likely 19th century) in one of the Accoutrement books. It measure 6" and throws 80 grains.

Very nice.  I just made a shorter, wider one with a larger spout opening for easier pouring of shot when turkey or small game hunting.  Rattlesnake tail banding with engrailing above the last band, it holds 100 grains.

Yeah, when I posted about the one I just made, I neglected to mention that mine looks plain and homely compared to Mitch's! So nice!  :D

Mitch, I've got to ask, how in the world did you make all of those tiny circles on a curved surface so uniform. Please don't say freehand. That is fantastic work. Bob

I make measures from antler but they're somewhat crude with none of the remarkable artistry you present.
