I like the dark color...what stain did you use?

 I use a dark brown leather dye then a black over it and rub it back.
I can't do the building , but I like and can do finish work.

The nose cap didn't line up prefect but made it work. I used a scrapper and  burnished with bone. Finish BLO.

In hindsight, you could take that whole top line of the forestock down from cap to lock. Scrubbing that down now might cause a color matching problem.

Gun looks really neat. I like the utilitarian simplicity. Nice lines.



In this rifle, I have almost 2/3 of the barrel side flat showing. It doesn't hurt anything at all, and makes the gun look a little sleeker.

To me the side plate looks too small for the style. That is something that can be remedied if you ever choose to do so.

 Let me clarify something. I have the skills to build. I use to in the late 80s and early 90s.
Mostly 17th century fowlers and muskets. Forged my own mounts. I can't now because of bad nerve
damage in my neck. It affects my arms.
When I bought these parts Troy from Stonewall Creek helped me out. The side plate is one to go with the lock.
I do not know if it's too small or not. Could be. Some minor things I can change . Like the side of the barrel channel.
To change the side plate I'd have to send back to Mike. I can't wait to get it out and burn some powder.
