Thanks for the leads but Pen blanks are a little small.   Some of the available blanks are 2 1/2 x2 1/2 "x12" might go look it over,,  just saying. Might be no use, then it might be,

Tim, I don't know if you realize it or not, but all of the horn rolls for sale out there are Asian water buffalo and most come are imported from India.

I received two dark honey water buffalo horn rolls ordered off of ebay as referenced before in this thread.   Here is a photo of the two rolls.   I cut them down from 4" to 3"; the size I use for my screw tips.   Both had voids in one end filled with resin.   One of the voids was cut off.  The other void went another inch or so into the roll.   As you can see this really didn't cause a problem for me for a screw tip.   The void will be drilled out for the threaded section.   I turned the roll with the long void into a tip blank without any problem.   The bottom line is that I got two tip blanks indistinguishable from cow horn.   I would order more.
