Help please

Trying to build rifle similar to number 88 from kindigs book (thoughts on the Kentucky rifle)
I can't figure out what the toe plate would look like I can see where it shoulders in but it looks like there's a finial on top about 7/8" long and I have no idea what it should look like.
Any ideas?

Ok let me try this a different way
If you were building this gun what would you put on it for a toe plate this is my first build and I'd like to get it right

When I don't have the original rifle in front of me, and I don't have images of every detail, I wing it by using a motif from another part of the rifle.

It might be a simplification of the patchbox finial. Or a repeat of the entry pipe carving, or an echo of the sideplate. In this way, it's not going to stand out as stylistically different from the rest of the gun.

Does this help?

Thanks acer
I was thinking along those lines but wasn't having much luck coming up with a design
Guess I'll go back to the drawing board until something looks right

If all else fails there is nothing wrong with a no finial toe plate.
