Help wit T.O.W. beck kit
« on: March 06, 2016, 01:50:58 AM »
So I'm working  on a J.P. Beck kit from track. This will be my second. I've got the lock in and double set trigger. Problem   is the lock only fires to half cocK with the trigger set. It will fire all the way without pushing in the rear trigger. Don't know how to fix.

There are several possibilities:
1) you do not have the "fly" installed in the lock
2) there is not adequate clearance for the rear trigger bar to fly up freely.

Those are my 2 first possibilities.  Others?

Lost arrow, the only possibility that I can see is that there is no fly installed in the lock, or there is wood behind the tumbler interfering with it's function.  Set triggers are the reason that the fly was invented in the first place... To correct this very problem.  Similar to Rich, there could also be too much wood in the sear-bar hole, but a fly would still prevent the half-cock lockup.

My money is on the fly being MIA or installed backwards.

Any ideas on where to  purchase  a siler fly. I checked   tow and I figured davis would have one, but maybe I'm looking  in the wrong spot.

If you did your lock work in one area a big magnet will help find all kind of stuff, including a ton of
metal filings.

Chambers is the source of a new fly for a Siler lock.

Any time I disassemble a lock, I place all parts in a container, looking for that little fly before it has a chance to get lost.  Now you need to take a close look to make sure you haven't damaged the tumbler notches.

I suggest that you buy two, just in case.  I wish I had.  Don't ask.
