Hard case for long barreled rifle
« on: March 09, 2016, 01:08:03 AM »
I know this has been talked about before, but....... I need a hard case for one or two longrifles.

Any direction out there?  Found some for about $600.  Don't need one of those.

I looked for a hard case for my 46 in barrelled gun without any luck. Custom cases are available , but the prices were well beyond my means .  My solution was to make my own. If you can build a rifle, you can build a case.

Crazy Crow has a nice one for a reasonable price.  Here's the link http://www.crazycrow.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=4663-040-175&Store_Code=CCTP&search=case&offset=&filter_cat=&PowerSearch_Begin_Only=&sort=&range_low=&range_high=

Oops, sorry Wattlebuster, just realized you posted suggested Crazy Crow too.  Didn't mean to steal your thunder.

Sounds like you need the 72" case at this link. Or build your own. Are you needing to travel by air with a longrifle?

I did a search on their site, and it came up with nothing.

Try 2nd Ammendment, they have airline approved aluminum cases. I have heard good things from a couple of people.

Depending on the quality you are looking for, a molded fishing rod case may work.  That is what I used when I flew to Denver on my way to an elk hunt.

If you use the link I posted, it should take you directly to their 72" case.

I forgot to mention 2nd Amendment used to offer free shipping as well. I think the 64" might be the same as the cases offered by Crazy Crow.

I actually like the Crazy Crow 72" better than the one I linked to.  Being able to actually configure the inside of the case for particular rifles and accessories looks seems a big plus.

And don't worry Waddlebuster, I'm in in exactly the same boat of trying to remember what day it is  :)

Jim and Barbie Chambers sell a super rugged, welded aluminum hardcase over which you could drive a Land Rover. Comes in several sizes. Safe for airlines. Single case is in the $300+ range. Not elegant, but very stout. Best wishes, Marc
