Identify barrel maker?
« on: March 10, 2016, 11:23:39 PM »
I am in the process of completing a rifle for a client who supplied the barrel and stock blank.   At the breech of the 1" straight 50 cal. barrel is the neatly stamped name J.R. Opdryiche,  Stryker, OH.  The barrel is very nicely finished and appears to be a quality product.  Is anyone familiar with this man and/or his business.

Thanks
Ron

Probably Russ Opdyke
Highly skilled barrel maker. He madethe 51" barrel that replicated my original Henry Mauger/ Allen Martin made the bench copy of the rifle

Hi Don,
Thanks for the info.  Does your barrel have a stamped script maker signature on the oblique flat near the breech?   The stamp on the barrel in question is script very professionally manufactured.  Not the kind of thing one would find on the work of a neophyte.

Thanks,   Ron

Mr Opdyke is deceased. His equipment lives on and is being used for the intended purpose. :)
