A jug choke only has no effect on round ball accuraty supposedly if you shoot a patched round ball. If you shoot a bare ball, the accuracy will suffer considerably over what it was before the choke was cut.
I have found that the shot range, and pattern of my tradegun is better with 2F, than it is with 3F, and if I can get, my hands on 1F, it even better yet.

Be sure to use over shot and a lubed felt wad between powder and shot to prevent plastic cups melting.     Mark

Don't need plastic shot cups with a jug choke. Just normal wads.

Yep, shot cup would negate the jug. Or in other vernacular , "no worky". ;D

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Plastic Shot cups can Help, BUT - the plastic stuck to the barrel & hiding fouling under it, can be very nasty to remove- if the barrel isn't SUPER smooth and chrome plated is best.

The jug choked .44 I had shot well with shot AND ball. I have a 20 bore flinter that has a standard choke, and it does not shoot round balls well- either that or any skill I have disappears when I pick that gun up.
