Swiveling PB latch design.

Here is an innovative new design for a patchbox latch from Ted Kramer.  It could have been designed in Florida where things have to be hurricane proof.    ;)   www.bricestultzhisblog.blogspot.com

Is this a historically accurate system? Seems a bit over engineered....

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

It's probably not historically accurate. Wasn't intended to be. However, nothing was used in the construction of the latch, materials, tools,  or methods, that was not available in NC in the late 18th century. So, until every last one of the original pivoting PB lid rifles is found, who knows for sure......?

A bit over engineered....yep
