I`m trying to locate an article some years back on the process on making a knotted game bag front. Any leads on the process would be appreciated.

This may be an ignorant question. I think those knotted fronts look great, but is there some practical reason for them? I have seen many pictures of this style game bag, but have yet to see any pictures with any clues as to what purpose it would serve? Would you put your squirrels inside the netting maybe?

The netting is really easy to make, once you know how. Look at the Memphis Net and Twine website: http://www.memphisnet.net/category/fishing and get yourself a netting needle to load the twine on. The 7"x 3/8" one should be about right for the size mesh you would probably be making. (or you could make one from a thin- about 1/8"- piece of wood or aluminum. Look closely at the picture online. The needle is flat.) With a netting needle you could make a whole panel for a pouch in less than 30 minutes. It takes about two seconds to tie each knot when you get the hang of it.

you may be thinking of the Beth Gilgun article in Muzzleloader several years ago. She made one for Chris to use grouse hunting. I still have it - but you'll have to give me a couple days to dig it out. Still packed from the move.

I have the September/Octpber 1994 issue of Muzzleloader. I can send it to you, if this will help.
The artical is titled, "The Knotted Game Bag" by Beth Gilgun. The four page artical has several knotting diagrams and photos.
